Since the leadpipe is where the sound forms, a wider wrap produces a better sound. The F-branch pipe, with its smoother wrap bent only in two dimensions, produces a better projection. The two slides are not parallel with the body if you look from the top, so we did not have to make two extra bends (twists), again helping with the sound.

Ion Balu builds and bends all tubes with one piece, with no ferrules (which are responsible for obstructing the air flow), thus improving it.

We cut the bell "in-the-house" and install an Alexander© size ring, giving you the opportunity to use different bell flares or alloys. We will offer in the near future the option to purchase extra bells.

We bend our own leadpipes and brass tubes. They are the best quality materials from the highly regarded M&K Drawing Company, Elkhart, Wisconsin.

We use a metal compound for filling the tubes that prevents them from collapsing and keeps their roundness, even on the most demanding bends, thus requiring virtually no corrections, as opposed to tubes bent with pitch.

To ensure a minimum sound resistance, we repositioned ALL the braces on the horn.

The angled main slide and F-side slide are strategically positioned, and they fall very naturally to the hand. When we tested the horn for the first time, we asked ourselves, "Why has nobody thought of this in almost 200 years of building horns?"

The "Veni Vidi Vici" model is made using some Yamaha© components. We decided to use the Yamaha© valve cluster and the bell because of their outstanding quality.

The upcoming "Primus Inter Pares", (First Among Equals) model is made using the highest quality parts, including but not limited to: J. Meinlschmidt valves, Bernd Sandner bells, and other German parts.

We call the angled f-slide and main slide the "Balu Wrap"©

The Balu wrap is a Ion Balu innovation.

By arranging the main and f-slide unparallel with the bell and f-branch, we avoided making two extra bends in the tubes, thus further improving the air flow. The f-branch now is bent only in 2 dimensions, as opposed to other Geyer wraps who have an extra twist.
