A. If you want to change the size of the string, we suggest making a hook from a rod or wire hanger (like the one in the picture) and insert it inside the mute. Push one end of the string inside and carefully pull it out with the hook. If you make the string shorter remember to cut the end of the surplus string. If the end is longer than one inch, it may affect the resonance of the mute.

Q. Can I change the string size on my horn straight mute?
Q. I live on the other side of the globe. Can I purchase a mute from your website?

A. Yes, no matter what country you live in the world, you are able to buy a mute from us. In the very unlikely event that Paypal, our payment proceesing company, is not available in your country, email us, and we will find a solution. We can take international Money Orders or bank transfers. Learn more about Paypal here.
Q. I purchased a mute from one of your dealers, but I want a different color, and the dealer is not very cooperative. What do I do?
A. Email us and we will find a solution.

Q. The corks on my mute are crumbling. What can I do?
A. While we strive to make a very durable mute, there are things we cannot control. Corks are one of them. After five to seven years, it is natural for them to crumble, so don't panic. We can replace the corks and probably give your mute a fresh look for a moderate fee. Email us.

Q. Where are the Balu horns?
A. This is a question a lot of you have asked. They are coming soon. In fact, in the last 8 years of making mutes and going to exhibits I accumulated a LOT of information. I recently tested my theories on a moderately good German horn with spectacular results.Stay tuned.

Q. Your website does not look right on my computer screen. Pictures and words are misaligned or overlapping!
What's up with that?
A. Our website looks and works fine on Firefox, Safari and other commonly used browsers. It may appear misaligned on Netscape.

Q. I am not happy with my mute and I want to return it. What do I do?
A. In 8 years of selling mutes, we have had less than a handful of unsatistified customers. In the event that you don't like your Balu mute, we will be happy to give you a full refund or replacement, no questions asked.

Q. I have a great idea about a mute for this...instrument. How can I implement it? What can I do?
A. Time is my only enemy. I wish I had more time to develop other peoples ideas. The truth is I had no time to even build all the mutes I invented in the last 8 years. One great mute that I never had time to implement is this
mute for string instruments. Hopefully time will come for all things.
Do email me about your idea, without actually telling me what the idea is. It will be my pleasure to guide you in any way I can.

Q. My mute (other brand than Balu) is falling apart. Can you sugest where or how can I fix it since I have currently don't have the money to purchase a Balu mute.
A. Sorry, but we do not repair other brand mutes. You can always use some strong glue widely available at your grocery store. Be careful when working with superglues, as it is possible to glue your finger to the mute.

Q. I would love to buy a Balu mute, but I am a student, and I am broke.
A. We know being a student is hard, so we recommend our mutes on clearance. They sound as good as our brand new mutes, but cost much less. Remember, a Balu mute is a great investment for years to come, not just for the sound, but also for your money. You can always sell it on Ebay if you change your major. Some of our past Limited Edition mutes (first Thunder series) sold on Ebay for more than people paid for it.

Q. I can't find the answer to the question that I have about mutes. What do I do?
A. Email us.
